At the time of launch in July 2010 this site contained the following:
Five and a half months after the site went live it now contains the following:
Within a couple of days of the site going live I was getting the odd hit from Google searches. For the first couple of months though the majority of visitors to the site were friends and colleagues.
In the middle of September I emailed a handful of walking sites which I particularly liked with a request that they add a link to my site. Three of the four sites kindly responded (thanks Geoff, Mike and Simon) and I'm sure the Google 'juice' these links provided helped to double the number of visits in October. That October's figure was then doubled again in November has been hugely gratifying.
I was always quite interested in seeing which of the Pennine areas would be most popular on the site. The chart below showes the number of page views the content of each section of the site has received between July and November 2010. Unsurprisingly, considering this section has by far the most content, the Yorkshire Dales is well out in front. Similarly the West Pennines has the least content and subsequently the least page views.
Interestingly though the second most viewed section of the site is the North Pennines, and even more astonishing to me is that my Meldon Hill walk in the North Pennines is the second highest landing page on the site. The Peak District section of my site had fewer hits than less popular areas but this is probably due to the fact that there are a lot more sites out there about the Peak District than say the North Pennines or Forest of Bowland.
