Walk Detail: On the last day of our holiday in Wooler I finally managed to get Lisa and Rhiannon out on a hill walk.
The environs of Wooler Common were lovely and the paths were fantastic, as were the views. Humbleton Hill, despite not even being 1000ft is still a distinctive fell and interest is added by the remains of an old hill fort.
Unfortunately it was yet another windy day and there were some ominously dark clouds skudding about which made Lisa nervous for Rhiannon's sake. As a result we missed Gains Law off the itinerary.
This was disappointing especially as it would have only added 20 minutes on to what was after all a short walk. However Lisa was right in that we could not risk Rhiannon getting caught in a heavy shower.
As it happened we did not stay long on the summit of Humbleton Hill or explore the remains of the fort as it was so windy and Rhiannon, who had fallen asleep in the backpack, did not appreciate the fact that it had woken her up.
Still this was a nice little walk with some lovely views.
