Walk Detail: This was the first time we'd taken Rhiannon up to Birk Crag and we all enjoyed the initial walk through the woods, which as often happens with Rhiannon turned into an extended game of hide-and-seek. Further on we spotted numerous ladybirds and at least 3 or 4 toads on the path.
After having our a picnic on the rim of the crag we continued on to the end of Crag Lane which we followed for a short distance before taking the path along the edge, and then through the Pinewoods, back to the start.
Although only a very short walk I thoroughly enjoyed this as Birk Crag and the Pinewoods were both regular destinations for family picnics as a child and I'm always susceptible to a good bit of nostalgia.
