Walk Detail: The weather when I arrived in Sedbergh was fairly grim and for a long time it did not look like improving. My initial plan had been to visit Calders and The Calf having first climbed Crook and Arant Haw before returning over the latter and bagging Winder on the way down.

As it happened the wind and rain became so bad that on the ridge between Arant Haw and Calders I could barely stand so I decided to cut my losses and head back via Winder at that point.

I was half way down Winder and heading back to Sedbergh when the weather changed quite remarkably. The sudden appearance of patches of sunshine along the Lune Valley convinced me the weather would clear so I went back, not only to the top of Winder but to Arant Haw where I enjoyed some fine views of the southern Howgills.

In effect I actually climbed Winder and Arant Haw twice in the same walk but it was definitely worth it and it showed how quickly the weather can change on the hills.
