Walk Detail: Rather unusually this walk started virtually from the summit as Lisa, Rhiannon and I had taken the cable car to the top from Llandudno. After taking some pictures of the trig point we waited for Val and Dave to arrive on the tram before setting off on a simple circuit of the upper reaches of the headland.
For the most part we followed the broad path alongside the wall that encloses the farm pastures. It was a beautiful day and there were great views of the mountains of the Carneddau and west along the coast to Anglesey. There were also some dramatic views down to the houses of Gogarth.
After posing for some photos by a sprawling old cairn we made our way down to some picnic benches where we had our lunch. Making our way back to the wall we passed a number of small patches of limestone pavement, a feature more usually associated with places like the Yorkshire Dales. Back at the wall it was then a simple walk followed by a short climb back to the summit station.
Whilst the highlight of this walk was undoutedly the cable car ride to and from the starting point the walk itself was very nice though hardly the initmate exploration that Great Orme deserves. Perhaps one day it would be nice to do a more extended walk around Great Orme incorporating some of the excellent Marine Drive which we also did whilst on this holiday.
