Walk Detail: After hardly being able to get out for a walk for most of the summer due to my knee injury this was my second walk in two weeks.
With my new £25 Elastoplast knee support I decided to risk my knee on this fairly short walk on Cracoe Fell. I’d enjoyed the stretch from Cracoe Fell to Rylstone Cross when I had done it with Matt two years before despite the rather dreary weather back then. I knew the view would be good in the right conditions and I was right.
It was also a bit more satisfying climbing to the cross direct. My knee support did its job most of the way though I could feel my knee straining against it so I was under no illusions as to how painful it would have been without it.
I somehow managed to get myself into a few situations on Rylstone Edge where scrambling was the only option but my knee even held up to this. It was only on the steep descent down to Cracoe that I felt any pain but that quickly subsided once I was back on the flat.
I really needed this walk and this was the first time in a while I felt optimistic that my knee was on the mend.
